Drive to Success is the ULTIMATE incentive program. It is OC’s way of encouraging student engagement by giving students the opportunity to win prizes for doing things that are proven to increase overall success in college.
Drive to Success is open to all Odessa College students who are enrolled at least half-time (6 credit hours or more) in the current semester. Students must be in good academic standing with a minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA, and no major disciplinary violations.
There is no enrollment process. All students who are enrolled in at least 6 credit hours are automatically enrolled, with points awarded based on the number of credit hours taken in the current semester.
Points are how we track Drive to Success involvement and entries. Every point earned gives a student one entry in to the Drive to Success drawing pool. There is no limit to the number of points a student may earn.
Points are earned through enrollment, or by signing in with Drive to Success at campus events. Points are awarded as follows:

* Enrollment – ½ point/credit hour (rounded up to the next whole point, minimum 6 credit hours)
Attending academic, service, career development, or other success - related events and programs on campus – 2 points/event
* Active participation or exceptional progress in classes – 2 point/class/semester (with instructor recommendation)
* Use of Student Success Center/tutoring services – 1 - 2 points/visit
Attending cultural, student activity, or other on - campus events – 1 point/event
* On - campus employment – 1 point/semester (with supervisor recommendation)
* Active involvement in registered student organizations, intramural sports, or athletic teams – 1 point/semester (with advisor/coach recommendation)
* Participation in Transfer Center events – 1 point/event
* Living on campus – 1 point/semester

* Separate Drive to Success sign in is not required to receive these points.
We will do our best to provide Drive to Success sign in sheets at every eligible campus event. If we missed one, bring a copy of the event program or game ticket to the Student Life Office to receive any eligible points for the event. If a program/ticket is unavailable, contact the Student Life Office.
For every point earned during the preceding year (Fall and Spring semesters), students are granted one entry into the Drive to Success drawing. Monthly winners will be drawn directly from this pool. In mid-April, finalists for the grand finale will also be drawn from this same pool. In late-April, finalists will attend the Drive to Success Finale for the grand prize drawing. All grand finale finalists will receive prizes.
Grand prize winner(s) will receive a brand new Ford Mustang, inclusive of all taxes, registration, and fees. The student with the most number of points (most-involved) will win $1,000. Monthly and all other finalists will receive a range of prizes, typically valued between $100 and $500 each.
For all monthly and most-involved awards there is no need to be present. Everyone chosen as a finalist for the grand finale will be contacted to ensure attendance at the event, and must be present to win. In the event that a student is unable to attend the grand finale drawing, an alternate finalist will be selected.
Students may only win one monthly prize each year. Students who win a monthly prize are still eligible for the grand finale drawing in April, based on their total number of points earned.
Students are only eligible while currently enrolled at least part time (6+ credit hours) as an OC student. December graduates are only eligible for any monthly drawings held in the fall semester.
Absolutely! The 6 credit hour minimum must still be met for the semester, but dual credit students are eligible. In fact, dual credit students have been named finalists and in 2015, a dual credit student won the grand prize!
In addition to spreading word of the program, anyone who works with students has the opportunity to reward students for exceptional conduct. At the end of each semester, faculty, coaches, advisors, and supervisors may submit the names and ID numbers of students they feel have taken steps toward achieving success. These students will each receive additional Drive to Success points. Additionally, anyone hosting an event on campus may be eligible to offer Drive to Success points for the event. Contact the Drive to Success coordinator to make arrangements prior to the event.
There is no catch! Odessa College wants to reward students for doing the right things.
Absolutely! Contact the Drive to Success coordinator with event information including the date, time, location, and nature of the event with inquiries.
